Description

The first Saham Marine Festival supported and organized by Al-Badi Investment Group under the slogan (our heritage maritime glory and sovereignty) took place under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Fuad bin Jaafar Sajwani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, and in the presence of HE Ahmed Bin Nasser Mahrazi, Minister of Tourism, His Excellency Sheikh Muhanna bin Saif al Lamki, Governor of North Batinah, as well as a number of honorees and governors, members of the Shura Council, officials in Al Batinah North Governorate and a large number of citizens and residents, who lined up on the coastal road near the state's historic fort. Sheikh Khamis bin Abdullah Al Badi, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the festival stressed that the mandate of Saham has a deep history with the sea, confirmed by those cruises that were released from the state of Saham to several external states, to return once again to a nautical history that the residents of Saham are proud of. This state was one of the shipping lanes, and one of the most important Omani ports that have been associated with foreign trade relations through the booming economic activity, which extends to the present day. This makes it the center of the confluence of commercial convoys heading to and from its market loaded with various types of cargo, local and imported products. The port was used for importation and exportation of goods like lemon powder, dates, fish and other local goods and products exported to the Gulf, Arab, Asian and African markets. The ships then came back again with imported goods to Saham market such as timber, clothing and other.
